All Paid Up Members To Members To Receive 150. 00 Death Benefit Every member of Local 713 UPW CIO will be automatically covered by the UPW Death Benefit Fund and will receive a 150 life insurance policy free.
The granting of free insurance to all Local 713 members was unanimously decided by the Executive Board at its meeting on March 18th.
According to the UPW plan, no member will be required to take a physical examination or fill out lengthy applications.
The payment of his dues by the member will be sufficient to provide for his coverage by the Death Benefit Fund. All members regardless of their age will receive the same amount of insurance 150. 00.
Meanwhile stewards of the union are being given Designation of Beneficiary cards for each member to fill out. The sole purpose of these cards is for the union member to select the beneficiary who will receive the 150 insurance upon his death. Every member should make sure that he fills out a card as soon as possible.
The Fund will not take effect, according to the regulations, until three months after the Union has decided to participate in it. Since the first month of Union participation is April, it means that the Fund will actually take effect or. July 1st, 1949. From July ist on, the beneficiary of every deceased member, who was in good standing with the Union, will receive a check for 150. 00 from the Union.
Every member must be in good standing with the union to be eligible to receive benefits. If an employee re instates in the union, he will not be eligible to receive benefits until three months following the com piete payment of his reinstate(Continued on page 4)
